| Before we began developing Aurum on Clutha, we spoke to a wide range of retirees local to Clyde and Alexandra. | While most of them love the area, they were concerned at the lack of high quality retirement living on offer, the only option being the prospect of having to move away from friends and family. Aurum is the latin word for gold, so we felt it was the perfect fit to honour our local history and aligned with the premium level of the offering. One of our Directors, Pat Houlahan, identified the need for a premium lifestyle village and aged care facility to serve Clyde and Alexandra, and helped secure our eight-hectare site. We felt strongly that our location should be close to amenities, and are thrilled to offer such proximity to Dunstan Hospital. |
Patrick has lived locally since the 1980s. He’s a business owner dedicated to making Clyde a vibrant, thriving place to call home – with current and past business interests in footwear retail, commercial property, cattle breeding, and exporting. Pat as a keen sportsman, having held several national lawn bowls titles. After identifying the need for a retirement village and aged care facility to serve Clyde and Alexandra, he helped secure our eight-hectare site in Clyde. As a major investor, Pat’s skin in the game is part of his passion for creating a true community for likeminded retirees.
Timothy is a local Chartered Accountant, who spent earlier years at PwC, where he gained invaluable experience advising businesses across multiple sectors and countries on mergers, acquisitions and capital raising. Working in banking since 2008 in London and New Zealand, Timothy specialised in leverage finance, cashflow forecasting and debt advisory – more recently focusing on financing senior living facilities across New Zealand. He knows what it takes to build welcoming homes for senior Kiwis. As a partner at a Central Otago accountancy firm, he lives nearby, leveraging his local networks to support the village.
Alexandra-based local, Warren has been appointed the Village Sales Manager. Get in touch with Warren who is based in our office located in the temporary Facilities Building to discuss your next step and go over villa options and the design of the village layout.
Sonya is a local, having attended both primary and high school in Alexandra before embarking on a career as a Travel Consultant.
In more recent times she has worked in administration, payroll and accounting roles in local businesses.
With a passion for customer service and problem solving, the role of Village Manager at Aurum is a dream job for Sonya who enjoys the rapport with the Village residents and contractors.
